Volunteering at KUT is a great way to get a behind-the-scenes look at the station, meet new people and support the programs you rely on.
Our volunteer opportunities are posted and managed through the KUT and KUTX Shiftboard. We post opportunities to specific teams, so we recommend that you check them all out and join any that pique your interest. If you have any special skills or interest, you'll be able to share those with us through your profile. Click here to join KUT's Volunteers today.
What do volunteers do?
We are looking for dedicated listeners to work alongside our staff on a variety of duties and events. Some of these are:
Help us share our gratitude to our new and longtime members by reaching out to spread our thanks. Public radio is powered by each and every member, volunteer and listener. Our goal is to reach out and say thanks to ALL of our new members who join during our Membership Drives through a friendly phone call or a handwritten postcard. New volunteers should register through Shiftboard and then join the Membership Drive Team to view and select shifts. You'll receive a notification to sign up before our next Membership Drive.
KUT has many special events throughout the year, including concerts, book events, discussion forums, projects within the Membership Department and more.
KUTX Interactive Team and Studio 1A Team:
KUTX is looking for independent, music-loving people to represent us at events and our live recordings in Studio 1A. Interactive and Studio 1A team members should have an interest in hanging banners, event set-up, working a membership table and interacting with like-minded music lovers. Learn more about KUTX volunteer opportunities and complete the required orientation here.
Ongoing Opportunities in the KUT Public Media Studios:
If you have a flexible schedule on weekdays during business hours and want to participate in a steady volunteer opportunity, then consider becoming a Studio Tour Guide.
Our Studio Tour Volunteers are a core group of volunteers who lead tours of the KUT/X Public Media Studios throughout the year for boy scouts, school groups, alumni organizations, members, concert club guests and more.
