Longhorns Volleyball Continues to Soar Under the Radar

At a school that spends and makes more than any other college on athletics, volleyball coach Jerritt Elliott has run the most successful program.

Texas Longhorns athletics is best known for football. But spiking a volleyball is what it's best at.

The Longhorns women’s volleyball team is hosting No. 1 ranked Penn State and No. 2 Stanford this weekend, as they set out to defend their national title. Longhorns head coach Jerritt Elliott sees this weekend’s matchups, which also feature eighth-ranked Florida, as an opportunity to garner local attention.

UT Volleyball Celebrates National Championship

Gregory Gym will open its doors to the Texas Volleyball team this weekend, who will be celebrating their national championship.

To celebrate its 2012 national championship, the Texas Volleyball team will play again in Gregory Gym this weekend.

The Longhorns will play an exhibition match against Wichita State. It is free and open to the public. It starts at noon.

Texas Tops Michigan in Women's Volleyball, Heads to Finals

The Lady Horns face Penn State next.

The Texas Longhorns have advanced to the women’s volleyball championship game for the third time in four years.  The only thing standing in the way of a possible national title is Penn State. 

The Lady Lions has defeated the Longhorns in their last two final four appearances. Texas coach Jerritt Elliott hopes this will be different than their last trip to the title game in Tampa three years ago, a heartbreaking five-set loss against Penn State.

City May Support Payday Lending Legislation

The City of Austin will consider a resolution today to endorse state legislation to regulate payday and auto title loan lenders.  These lenders often have high interest and fees that consumer advocates say can trap people in a spiral of debt.  Right now there is a loophole that allows these stores to run without oversight.  If the resolution is passed, the city would officially endorse Rep. Eddie Rodriguez's House Bill 212.
