Watching UT-Kansas This Weekend? Good Luck.

Oct 24, 2011

CORRECTION: does not carry live sporting events, as reported earlier.

Watching this weekend's Texas-Kansas football game won't be easy, if you're not at the stadium Saturday night.

The game will be televised on the Longhorn Network. That cable channel, a joint venture between U.T. and ESPN, is still not available to subscribers of Time Warner Cable, Austin's largest cable provider.

"We have to reach an agreement with the programmer, and in this case it's ESPN,"  said Ryan Kelly, Time Warner media relations manager for Central Texas, in a prepared statement. "We have had discussions with ESPN about the Longhorn Network, but there are no further updates to report at this time."

The network is available to subscribers of Grande Communications cable, which serves parts of Austin and San Marcos.
