No, he hasn't announced anything...yet. But it was another day ofGovernor Rick Perry on stage, speaking to a national organization about his record as Texas Governor.
Mr. Perry spoke to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials today in San Antonio, making sure to point out he had appointed the first Hispanic women to serve as Secretary of State, on the Texas Supreme Court and on the Court of Appeals.
With every new speaking engagement - new stories flood "the Googles" with speculation on the following topics:
- Will he run
- What would happen if he does
So with that in mind - here's a rundown of some recent interesting picks from the web.
The Wall Street Journal has a quick post sighting an unnamed Republican source who says Governor Perry WILL run for President. But that he may not announce until after his August day of prayer and fasting in Houston. (Here's a rebuttal from Perry spokesman Mark Minor.)
All the recent BUZZ over Perry's possible Presidential run had an affect on the latest Presidential Power Rankings from the National Journal. Governor Perry joined the rankings for the first time at #3 (behind Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty). The rankings take into account a candidate's money, campaign infrastructure, strengths and weaknesses.
The Rothenberg Report has a long story on Perry's chances, strengths and weaknesses in a Presidential run, a real nice overview of his time in office and how some of his moves could help/hurt a run for the GOP nomination.
And finally, from earlier in the week, Politico had an article on how Perry's staff is ready to address an old 2004 rumor that the governor is gay.
