KUT, KUTX and the music-loving folks of Austin all lost a luminary last Friday, when long-time DJ Paul Ray passed away at the age of 73. Ray was a fixture in the Austin music scene and his show "Twine Time" was a near-constant in an ever-changing Austin over the past 40 years.

So, in honor of Paul's passing, this Wayback Wednesday we're listening back to nearly seven hours of his archival broadcasts from the 1980s, including his 1987 New Year's Eve special, a special B-sides only show and a live performance by The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

KUT and KUTX will air a tribute to Paul Ray on Jan. 23. Additionally, there is a memorial fund to help Paul's wife, Diana, pay for medical, funeral and living expenses. You can find the memorial fund online here, where you may also offer condolences and share memories of Paul.
