From finding a loose dog to reporting a burnt-out street light, Austin residents contacted 3-1-1 over 210,000 times last year. The map above shows which zip codes made the most service requests per resident in 2012.
Austin's 3-1-1 service puts callers in touch with services from city's 14 different departments, including the Austin Police Department, Austin Resource Recovery, Health and Human Services, Transportation, Animal Service and more. Here's a breakdown of which city departments saw the most service requests:
"Additionally, we have an ever growing database of information about current issues, city buildings like libraries and recreation centers, as well as events [in Austin]," city information officer Patty Mendoza tells KUT News via email.
