After pushes to bring welcome kits and toys to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, local organizations are now partnering to bring cleaning supplies to those rebuilding after the unprecedented storm damaged homes across the state.

Mayor Steve Adler and Keller Williams Realty are holding a donation drive today at the Austin Convention Center, with a focus on supplies for rebuilding efforts.

Organizers will accept donations of the following cleaning supplies from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Exhibit Hall 3 at Second and Trinity streets.

  • Multipurpose cleaner
  • Chlorine bleach
  • Disinfectant spray
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Buckets
  • Plastic/Latex gloves
  • Leather or heavy duty work gloves
  • Heavy duty garbage bags
  • Scrub brushes
  • Sponges
  • N95 respirator mask and dust masks
  • Brooms
  • Mops
  • Dust pans
  • Paper towels

The Austin Disaster Relief Network is also asking for cleaning supplies for Texans beginning post-Harvey cleanup.

The organization is holding a donation drive from Sept. 11-16, asking Austinites to donate kits with supplies listed below:

  • 5 gallon bucket with lid
  • 3 N-95 masks
  • 1 large spray bottle
  • 1 x 1.27 liter bottle of bleach
  • Antibacterial multi-purpose cleaner
  • 1 can of powder cleanser
  • 1 package of 2 scrub brushes
  • 1 bar of soap
  • 2 packages of large latex gloves (2 pairs per packets)
  • 1 radial dish brush
  • 2 brillo sponges
  • 2 regular sponges
  • 1 pair of safety goggles
  • 2 cloth rags
  • 1 medium roll of kitchen trash bags
  • Utility knife
  • Hammer

Kits must be assembled with all the materials sealed in the five-gallon bucket to make it easier for transport, and ADRN is asking donors to include a note of encouragement for recipients.

If you can’t put together a kit, ADRN is also taking $40 donations to help prepare kits.

Once assembled, you can drop off the kits at either of the two locations:

Drop-offs will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
