Generic Ensemble Company Presents 'Robin Hood: An Elegy'

This month at the Vortex, Generic Ensemble Companypresents the new original work Robin Hood: An Elegy.

The play, written by Krysta Gonzales (with portions devised by the ensemble) invokes not just the legendary folk hero Robin Hood, but also the current movement #blacklivesmatter. In this story, Robin Hood transcends space and time to experience state-sanctioned violence throughout the centuries.

For director kt shorb, dealing with such important and timely subject matter is both rewarding and heartbreaking. "It's nice to have important work," she says, "but it's hard that it... it just keeps getting more important in like the worst way possible."

See Robin Hood: An Elegy through August 22 at the Vortex.
