Greg Davis, who guided UT's offense for 13 years, resigned as offensive coordinator

After a 5-7 season and no bowl game for the first time in 13 years, Greg Davis has resigned as offensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns football team.

Davis had come in for sharp criticism from fans over the 'Horns offensive output, which sagged dramatically in the 2010 season.  Davis was part of Head Coach Mack Brown's original staff, when he arrived at Texas for the 1998 season.  That year, the 'Horns rebounded from a losing record to finish 9-3 and earn a berth in the Cotton Bowl.  Texas competed for the BCS National College Football Championship twice, winning it all in 2005.

UT athletics officials announced Davis' departure in a news release this morning, along with the departure of two other UT assistant football coaches.  Both offensive line coach Mac McWhorter and Mike Tolleson, who coached defensive back and special teams, have decided to retire.

Ian Crawford joined KUT as News Editor in 2008, after spending over four years as a reporter/anchor at KLBJ Radio in Austin. He began his broadcasting career while still in high school in Southern Oregon. During high school and college at the University of Oregon, he worked at times as a reporter, news anchor, sports play-by-play reporter, music host and commercial producer before moving to Texas in 2003.
