City Candidates Get Ballot Positions Tomorrow

A total of 11 people have filed for the three Austin city council seats up for election this May.  With the filing period over, the city clerk will draw names tomorrow morning to determine the order that names will appear in on the ballot.

Place 1 incumbent Chris Riley is seeking a full three-year term.  He will face former assistant city manager Roger Chan, one-time mayoral candidate Josiah Ingalls and electrical engineer Norman Jacobson.

Randi Shade, seeking a second term in Place 3 also drew three opponents: former council member Max Nofziger, unsuccessful state house candidate Kris Bailey and neighborhood activist Kathie Tovo.

Only two opponents are challenging Place 4 incumbent Laura Morrison: radio personality Toby Ryan and Eric Rangel.

Election Day is Saturday, May 14.  Early voting runs May 2-10.
