Central Texas Snowfall Amounts Ranged From 0.5 To 2 Inches

The National Weather Service released snowfall totals for towns and cities in Central Texas. (Here's how they measure it.) These numbers are from 10:42 a.m. 

  • Georgetown, 2.0"
  • Pflugerville, 1.5"
  • Four miles northeast of Pflugerville, 1.1"
  • Austin, 0.5"
  • Seven miles west of Austin, 1.0"
  • Four miles northwest of Austin, 1.0"
  • Ten miles north of Austin, 0.5"
  • Eleven miles north of Austin, 0.9"
  • Five miles northeast of Austin, 0.8"
  • Round Rock, 0.5"
  • Kyle, 0.5"
  • Marble Falls, 0.5"
  • Leander, up to 1.3"

Meanwhile, snow on Austin streets is beginning to melt in areas hit by direct sunlight.  The city says it has eighty employees out sanding streets, and the Texas Department of Transportation has workers spraying magnesium chloride on local highways.
