PHILADELPHIA –May 15, 2014 — The Corporation for Public Broadcasting today announced a $750,000 grant for a historic collaboration between five public media stations to build a new, national, online music video showcase featuring exclusive live performances of new and emerging bands.

Code named the "Music X Project," this service plans to launch by the end of 2014.  The five founding stations are KCRW in Los Angeles, KTBG in Kansas City, KUTX in Austin, WFUV in New York City, and WXPN in Philadelphia. 

KUT News wins four regional Edward R. Murrow awards

AUSTIN, Texas—April 23, 2014—KUT News has won four regional Edward R. Murrow awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) in recognition of excellence in electronic journalism.

The awards were in the Region 6 (Oklahoma and Texas) large market radio category for the following projects produced in 2013:

AUSTIN, Texas — April 23, 2014 — For the second year in a row, KUT StateImpact Texas reporter Mose Buchele has received the Charles E. Green Award for Best Reporter in the radio category.

Sponsored by the Headliners Foundation of Texas, the Charles E. Green Awards honor journalists in Texas who produce the very best news reporting and design.

AUSTIN, Texas — April 8, 2014 — Central Texans raised nearly $800,000 to support the news, information and cultural programming on KUT 90.5, Austin's NPR station, and the music programming on KUTX 98.9, the Austin Music Experience.

Close to 4,500 individuals and businesses participated in the spring membership drive, which began March 26 and concluded at 9 a.m., April 4. Forty-one percent of participants were first-time donors with more than 30 percent of donors becoming sustaining members.

AUSTIN, Texas — March 25, 2014 — KUT's StateImpact Texas energy and environment reporter Terrence Henry has received a fellowship to study the policies that led to the successful deployment of renewable energies like offshore wind and large-scale solar in Europe, and the lessons they could hold for Texas.
