Longhorn basketball star Myck Kabongo is leaving school to join the NBA, the University announced today, making himself eligible for the 2013 draft.

The point guard played in the team's last 11 games, after serving an NCAA suspension for the season's first 23 games. According to the NCAA, Kabongo broke the rules by accepting a trip to Cleveland that he didn't pay for, and then lied about it twice while speaking with investigators.

UT Men’s Basketball team lost their opening game in the College Basketball Invitational against Houston last night. The Texas basketball season had already come to an end for the Horns without making it to the NCAA playoffs - their first shut out since the 1997-98 season.

Houston Cougars’s Daniel House set the final score to 73-72 after a mid-range jump shot with only 17 seconds left.

The University of Texas at Austin men’s basketball team is not eligible to play in the upcoming NCAA tournament. The Longhorns were not even invited to play in the NIT.

But they have accepted a bid to the College Basketball Invitational or CBI.

So what is the CBI? According to the event's website, it's a single-elimination tournament for sixteen teams "that deserve a postseason experience."

The men’s basketball program at the University of Texas has been on a winning streak lately. That is, until last night.

The streak is over – and so is the team's season – after a 66 to 49 loss to Kansas State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.

STAAR Retesting Begins Today

Students across Texas who didn’t pass subjects of the STAAR exam will begin retaking the tests today.

Last year’s ninth-graders were the only students who had to pass the tests to graduate on time as seniors. Next year, the passing requirement will affect both ninth and tenth-graders. The STAAR test will continue to phase-in to each grade, eventually completely replacing the TAKS test.

Also starting next year, the STAAR exam will make up 15 percent of a high school student’s final grade in a subject.

For the Texas men's basketball team, the music at the Big Dance has ended.

Arizona's Derrick Williams' free throw with nine seconds left in regulation time gave the Wildcats a 70-69 win over the Texas Longhorns in the third round of the NCAA mens basketball tournament.

Jordan Hamilton led the 'Horns in scoring with 18 points, as Texas put on a furious comeback in the second half after trailing by nine at halftime.

The 'Horns finish the year with a record of 28-8.
