The University confirmed late Wednesday evening that Manny Diaz will take over as defensive coordinator for the Texas Longhorns.  Diaz is leaving the same post at Mississippi State.  Diaz was in Austin yesterday with his wife interviewing for the position.

According to published reports from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and others, current University of Wisconsin offensive coordinator, Paul Chryst, has been offered the same position at Texas.

The 45 year-old Wisconsin native and UW graduate would reportedly receive a steep salary increase if he joins the UT coaching staff.  Mack Brown and Texas are reportedly able to offer $1 million.  Chryst’s current annual compensation package is $361,094.

Horns Lose to the Aggies

The Texas Longhorns wrapped up a losing season with a loss to Texas A&M last night.  The no. 17 Aggies beat Texas 24-17.  The loss means the Horns more than likely will not play in a bowl game.  With a 5-7 finish this year, Head Coach Mack Brown has a lot of evaluating to do of his players... and coaches.
