Baylor Lady Bears Paw Their Way to Top Seed in NCAA Tournament

The Lady Bears seek to become the fourth team to win back-to-back titles.

The defending champion Baylor women’s basketball team is again the No. 1 overall seed in the women’s NCAA tournament.

The first game for the Lady Bears is Sunday against No. 16 seed Prairie View A&M.

It's Not the NCAA - or the NIT - but the CBI for the Longhorn Men

The UT men's basketball team is headed to the CBI.

The University of Texas at Austin men’s basketball team is not eligible to play in the upcoming NCAA tournament. The Longhorns were not even invited to play in the NIT.

But they have accepted a bid to the College Basketball Invitational or CBI.

So what is the CBI? According to the event's website, it's a single-elimination tournament for sixteen teams "that deserve a postseason experience."

The men’s basketball program at the University of Texas has been on a winning streak lately. That is, until last night.

The streak is over – and so is the team's season – after a 66 to 49 loss to Kansas State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.

J'Covan Brown Bolts for NBA

UT men's basketball player J’Covan Brown will forgo his senior season and enter the NBA draft.  Brown said in a statement that “the time has come for me to pursue a career in professional basketball and take care of my daughter, Jordyn.”

Brown’s average of 20.1 points a game led the Big 12 this past season. His move makes 10 Longhorns to leave school early for a shot at the big leagues since 2006. Brown was also an Academic All-Big 12 Team selection.

Paul Qui Wins 'Top Chef: Texas'

Austin’s own Paul Qui, Executive Chef of Uchiko, won "Top Chef: Texas" last night.

Qui went head to head against Chicago's Sara Gruenberg in the season finale. This season of "Top Chef" brought the contestants to Austin, Dallas and San Antonio where they battled for the highly sought-after title.
