Saying a college education is the "surest path to the middle class," President Obama announced a plan Thursday to allocate federal aid to colleges and universities based in part on their affordability.

In case you didn't know, Gov. Rick Perry doesn't think much of the Affordable Care Act - aka Obamacare.

He lead the charge to make sure Texas didn't participate in the voluntary expansion of people eligible for Medicaid coverage. And he was an early -- and often vocal opponent -- of the state creating a healthcare exchange under the ACA.

In a 45-minute interview with PBS' Charlie Rose, President Obama defended a government program that collects vast data about the electronic activity of Americans.

Obama rejected comparisons to the Bush-Cheney administration, saying his administration had implemented new safeguards to protect Americans' privacy.

"Authorities, including the FBI, questioned a New Boston, Texas, man Thursday night in connection with an investigation of ricin-laced letters sent to government officials, including President Barack Obama," KSLA-TV in Shreveport, La., reports.
