BBB: Austin Air Duct Company is Cleaning Customers' Wallets

The Better Business Bureau is warning Austin consumers from doing business with a local duct cleaning company.

An Austin-based air duct cleaning company is looking a little dirty.

A company known alternately as Austin City Air Ducts, ANS Air Ducts, AC Air Ducts and AOS Air Ducts, advertises cleaning services in ValPak coupons and on group buying websites like Eversave. But the Better Business Bureau says it received several complaints about the company from consumers in Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas/Forth Worth.

Tens of thousands of Formula 1 fans are making their way to Austin for this weekend’s Grand Prix. Many are from foreign countries.

The Austin Better Business Bureau says business owners should be prepared to accept foreign currency or else they may lose out on some customers.

The BBB says business owners should be aware of ever-changing exchange rates and should talk to their banks about whether they’ll charge extra for depositing foreign currency.

Local Matchmaker Gets No Love From Better Business Bureau

A company that provides dating services in Austin is coming under fire from the local Better Business Bureau. eLove says on its website that it was voted the #1 matchmaker at an industry conference for two years in a row, but the local BBB says it has received 37 complaints against the business.

BBB Warns of Bogus Financial Aid Assistance

The Better Business Bureau is warning students and parents about potentially-shady financial aid schemes.

As students and parents struggle to fill out the FAFSA form to pay for college next year, the Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to be wary of some companies offering scholarship or financial aid money. The businesses reportedly claim that they will be able to provide help in securing some scholarships and potential financial aid. Last year, the BBB received nearly 400 complaints nationwide from students and parents by scholarship and financial aid companies.
