Update: Austin Pride festivities paraded through down Austin Saturday night. KUT was there to document it all; take a look at our slideshow below, powered by the KUT Flickr page.

Original post (Sept. 6): Austin’s annual Pride celebration, which kicked off Sept. 1, builds to a close this weekend. The theme of this year’s events, held by the Austin Gay and Lesbian Pride Foundation? “Love Unites.”

“YOUnify and Celebrate” is the tagline for this year’s Austin PRIDE day—an opportunity to support and connect the area’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community.

Events include a parade and a festival that features what organizers call an unparalleled lineup of live music acts.

The Austin PRIDE celebration is in its 21st year. Austin PRIDE President Paul Huddleston says the festival keeps getting bigger and that they’ve sold tickets to people from 28 states and 8 countries.

“The festival is for everyone. We’ve got activities and attractions for kids all the way up to the adults," Huddleston says.
