Austin Toasts the Old-Time Beer Garden Experience at Scholz

Scholz Garten is hosting an old school recretaion of the beer garden experience this evening.

Family meals, lectures and musical entertainment. These are a few of the experiences you might get at a beer garden in the 19th century.

Tonight, the Austin History Center is hosting an event celebrating the old-timey beer garden experience at Scholz Garten, which was established in 1866. It claims to be the oldest continuously operated business in Texas.

Austin History Center's Juneteenth Tour of African-American Heritage

A series of Juneteenth celebrations kicked off this weekend, celebrating the day in 1865 when slaves in Texas learned they were free. To honor these celebrations, KUT News is telling a series of stories about the history of the African-American community in Austin.
