Woman Given Lifetime Pass to Barton Springs Pool
Austin City Council granted a rare privilege today to an 82-year-old Austin woman: a lifetime pass to Barton Springs Pool.
Patty Curtis started swimming at the pool in 1975 when she was 46-years-old.
It's actually a city practice to grant lifetime swimming privileges at Barton Springs for people who are over 80 and regularly use the facility. The honor has only been bestowed on about thirty people in the last 42 years, according to the city.
Senior citizens normally have to pay $32 for a 40-swim pass that can be used as frequently or infrequently as they like.
