Want a 'Free' SXSW Badge? (One Catch - You Have to Volunteer)

Here's a wakeup call: the South by Southwest Music, Film and Interactive festivals are just about two months away.

If you want to be part of the action – but don't want to shell out the money for a badge – you can volunteer.

SXSW offers a multitude of volunteer opportunities, from production to technical support and several conference activities. Daytime and evening positions will be available during the conference, but all volunteers must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours or three shifts during the event.

Volunteer registration opens today. You can get more information at a couple of meetings at the Austin Convention Center, Ballroom ABC on the First Floor:

  • Saturday, Jan. 19: 3 p.m - 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 29: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
