'UT Remembers' Honors Students, Staffers Lost Over the Year

Liang Shi for KUT News

The University of Texas at Austin tower will be mostly dark tonight in honor of the 205 members of the UT community who died over the past year.

Dimming the tower is part of UT Remembers, an annual event that pays tribute to the UT students, faculty members, staffers and retirees who died in the past year. The following events are scheduled today:

  • 8:45 a.m. — UT's ROTC color guard will lower the flags on the main mall to half-staff in a formal ceremony.
  • 10 a.m. — In the Jamail Academic Room (Main Building, Room 212), the University will host a discussion on the topic of grief.
  • 2 p.m. — In the tower garden, the University will host the UT Remembers services. The names of the 205 people who have died over the past year will be read out loud, and the tower bell will ring in tribute.
  • 8:30 p.m. — A special concert will be performed on the tower bells.

There will be free parking in the San Antonio Garage at 2420 San Antonio St. for those who attend the event.
