Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repealed
President Obama formally signed the bill repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." In the signing ceremony, the President said, "valor and sacrifice are no longer defined by sexual orientation." He also encouraged people discharged under the old policy against gays in the military to return to the armed forces.
Texas to Pick Up Four Congressional Seats
Over 25-million people live in Texas now, according to data released by the U.S. Census. That increase in population will lead to an increase in the state's congressional delegation. Ben Philpott reports for KUT News and the Texas Tribune about what that means...and where the seats might wind up.
Tolls Paying Off
The Austin American-Statesman reports a cloudy picture for the area's tollways. The 78 miles of tolled roads in Central Texas are generally half-full, the paper reports. While the roadways are still generating more revenue than expected, though it will be a while before the roads start showing a profit.
