Rick Perry's Reaction to "Oops" Moment
Perry tweeted to his followers on Twitter last night saying:
"Really glad I wore my boots 2nite because I stepped in it out there. I did still name 2 agencies to eliminate. Obama has never done that!"
So where does he go from here? Perry spoke to the Associated Press this morning and was asked if he will step out of the race as a result of last night.
"This ain't a day for quitting nothing."
Mack Brown on Joe Paterno
Mack Brown has released a statement in the wake of Penn State Head Football Coach Joe Paterno's ouster. ESPN reports that the Longhorns coach had this to say:
"I've known Coach Paterno since I started coaching. I know nothing of the circumstances, but college football will miss him greatly on the field. He has done much for the game, and for Penn State."
Vote on Confederate Plates
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles is voting today on whether or not to allow a new specialty plate that has an image of the Confederate battle flag. The plate is supported by the Texas division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The plates have already been approved in Georgia, Alabama, Maryland, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. KUT has more on this story.
Austin City Council Meeting
Austin City Council will meet today at 10 a.m. to discuss an agreement to purchase the LCRA's Glenlake Water System, a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to weatherize homes, and the Downtown Austin Plan, among other issues.
