Thank you for making our fall membership drive a resounding success. It's the local community that funds 92 percent of our operating budget and pays for national programming such as "Morning Edition," "Wait, Wait…Don't Tell Me," and "Marketplace," and local programming, including KUT News, local music, "In Black America," "The Austin Music Experience" and more.
Our current total — which will change as people who missed the on-air portion of the membership drive donate online or by calling 512-471-6291 — is $775,000. The fall 2013 thank you gifts will be available through midnight, Monday, Oct. 28th.
A membership drive is truly a community effort — from the volunteers that come in to answer phones and process pledges, to the dozens of local restaurants that keep those volunteers fed, to the community leaders that join us on the air to ask for your support, to the thousands of you who have participated in the drive — and we couldn't have done it without your participation in one way or another.
If we had to sum up the fall 2013 membership drive in a sentence, it would be "Sustaining membership is a win-win." During the drive we increased our sustaining membership by 25 percent. Many of you have said it's more convenient to support the news, music and information programming you love with continuous monthly gifts via credit or debit card — like a subscription — that directly supports programming. Additionally, sustaining memberships provide the station a stable source of funding, and save on printing and mailing costs. Win-win!
Thanks so much!
