Texas Secessionists: Petition Response Should Be 'Torn to Pieces'

The White House has responded to a petition requesting the right for Texas to secede from the union. It was signed by more than 125,000 people.

The White House said that the Founding Fathers who created the Union “did not provide a right to walk away from it.”

Daniel Miller, president of the Texas Nationalist Movement says that the White House’s response does little to address the grievances outlined in the petition.

"This response complete rejects the founding principles found in the declaration of independence. It really deserves to be torn to pieces," said  Miller. "It further bolsters our argument that Texas would be better off as an independent nation."

The White House used the same response to address petitions requesting secession from seven other states and one request for the deportation of signers of secession petitions. The White House responds to all petitions that obtain at least 25,000 signatures.
