SXSW Film: It's (Almost) A Wrap

The South by Southwest Film Festival is drawing to a close this weekend. KUT’s Jennifer Stayton and Terrence Henry sat down to talk about some trends at the festival this year, what moviegoers are buzzing about, and which films truly stood out.

"One thing that really struck me this year is that everything visually just looks better," Henry said.

"Even the documentaries have become much more cinematic. And I think a lot of that has to do with digital filmmaking. There's some really nice cameras out there now, like the RED camera, that a lot of filmmakers, both narrative fiction and non-fiction documentaries are using. Also things like steadicam shots, shallow depth of field, clever editing – for the documentaries, it's been really impressive to see a cinematic look."

There was also one bizarre film that Henry says some people are so intrigued by, they're seeing it more than once. You can listen to their conversation above.
