IH 35 Reopens
After weekend construction at the intersection of Ben White and IH35 had drivers taking detours, TxDOT said the intersection will be reopened by this afternoon. Meantime, area tollways are still toll-free during construction.
AISD Emergency Work Session Monday
The AISD school board will discuss the superintendent's proposal to eliminate roughly 1,000 jobs as part of budget reductions at a work session on Monday night. No decisions will be made at that time. Board members will also get a chance to discuss a preliminary draft of a report developed by a task force that included school closures as an option to reduce district spending.
As KUT has previously reported, a district task force will submit a draft report to school board members looking at how the district could use facilities more efficiently, and raises it includes the option of school closures. You can see the report here.
Short But Sweet?
Just weeks after accepting a defensive coaching position with the UT Longhorn football team, Jerry Gray has left for the Tennessee Titans.
In a brief statement, Coach Mack Brown said, "We're obviously disappointed that Jerry's leaving, but at the same time, we're really excited about the wonderful opportunity he had to be the defensive coordinator of the Titans. It is a chance for him to reunite with a lot of friends he went to the Super Bowl with who came up just one yard short of winning. That's the only place he would have left here for, and we want to wish him the best of luck."
