Sticks & Stones & Thunder Storms

Read by Laurie Viault

Your name means Night; mine is Song
Together we used to fit like a puzzle
Once upon a time we grew up happy; you the stars, I the starlight
But I don’t know what happened to make that change

Suddenly the starlight--blotted out like a cloudy moon
All that replaced it was a stormcloud
That flashed with light, yes, but not the same light
It’s now cold and angry--why?

Once upon a time we fit together
Now it seems we’re best living apart
Everything I say now aggravates you
Brings out the storm in you, drives you further away from me, from us

I want to believe the stars are out there
Hidden behind the thickness of the clouds
But the certainty that stars are waiting’s fading
Please, show me I can find them again

Your hopeless dreams can’t be found unless you take down those walls
That you’ve erected around yourself, to shut us all out
I’m out here for you, I always have been, but
Show me what’s behind the sheet of thunder that I’ve been waiting for

Don’t you remember, those years ago
When we really were like best friends hand in hand
You read me books, I danced with you
Now it’s as if I’m your toy; you play with me then toss me away

Please show me the stars again
I love you, but you won’t see it
Bring back the old times, take down the storm clouds,
And maybe I can find the real you again.
