South by Couch West: Watch SXSW From Home

Maybe you didn't RSVP to the events, or maybe you didn't buy an $895 music badge or a $189 wristband, or maybe you hate lines, but you still want a taste of Austin's largest annual assembly of live music? There are options.

Fader Fort is livestreaming four days of live music performances in ultrahigh definition. Dell is organizing the technology and says it's the first time a concert has been livestreamed online in 4K.

"You're going from HD to basically four HD-sized screens, so you're quadrupling the detail," Dell's Scott Hamilton says of 4K technology. "This just takes it to the next level."

The streamis also offered in HD and standard definition. It switches automatically depending on your bandwidth.

South by Southwest is also offering 24-hour streams featuring selected panels, keynotes and live performances. You can watch them at sxsw.com/on or if you have a Roku streaming media player, you can install the SXSW channel.

The SXSW livestreaming schedule includes performances by WAVVES, Spoon, The Church, Swervedriver, Ryan Bingham and Ringo Deathstar. It also includes keynotes from Snoop Dogg, RZA and Henry Rollins.

Waterloo Records is offering a livestream of its day parties through Saturday.

KGSR is streaming four days of live performances at the W Hotel.

Pandora is livestreaming the audio from its Pandora Discovery Den at the Gatsby with four days of music starting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.

The electronic dance music label Monstercat is livestreaming its showcase of five artists from Empire Control Room at 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.

The Christian music industry has its own multi-genre music showcase being livestreamed from Promiseland Church on East 51st Street.

If you want a first-person view of SXSW from the streets, you can try finding someone livestreaming it on Meerkat, a video streaming app that works with Twitter and has been a breakout hit of SXSW Interactive. Just try searching Twitter for "sxsw meerkat live" or click this and search for a stream. You'll need a Twitter account to watch the video.
