Road Closures for Presidential Visit

Update: If you're looking for information on President Obama's July 17, 2012 appearance in Austin, click here

Because of President Obama's visit to Austin today, police are not allowing people to park near the W Hotel downtown between 1:00 and 7:00 p.m. this afternoon. Mr. Obama will be speaking at the new ACL Studios at Moody Theatre late this afternoon.

APD will also be shutting down traffic along W. 2nd St., W. 3rd St. and in the 200 blocks of Lavaca and Guadalupe Sts. Police say commuters can expect delays between the airport and downtown, as the Presidential motorcade travels into downtown.

Air Force One is expected to land at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport around 5:00 this afternoon.  Airport spokesman Jim Halbrook says that will cause a few delays for security reasons.  All incoming and outgoing air traffic is frozen, while the Presidential jet lands.  The freeze is lifted as soon as the President's motorcade leaves the airport grounds.
