Red River Rivalry Could Bring Slow Traffic To Parts of I-35

If you’re heading to Dallas this weekend to see the Texas Longhorns take on the Oklahoma Sooners, the Texas Department of Transportation says you may encounter about 30 miles of construction on your way.

Crews will not actually be working on road renovation projects along the route, but there may be lane reductions which could cause traffic congestion. Extra traffic from people heading to the game could make those slowdowns move well, slower  than usual.

The most likely location for bad traffic is northbound in Temple at Crest Drive just north of Waco and southbound in Hillsboro and Belton, according to TxDOT. You can check specific conditions at my35.org.

The weather forecast also calls for a chance of rain on Saturday from Austin to Waco.

“Motorists should use extra caution in work zones and reduce any in-car activities that distract from the task at hand,” TxDOT’s interim boss John Barton said in a statement.
