The Doctor is in.... court.
If you're a fan of "Dublin Dr. Pepper," that variety of the soda made from pure cane sugar, you may want to stock up. Dr. Pepper Snapple Group Inc. is suing the Dr Pepper Bottling Co. of Dublin, Texas for breaking the terms of their contract.
Dublin Dr. Pepper has a bottling license with Dr. Pepper Snapple group to sell its product within a six counties area around its bottling plant. The parent company claims that Dublin Dr. Pepper is breaking that agreement by selling outside of its range, according to the Associated Press.
"In the simplest terms, the bottler in Dublin is using a logo that is no longer authorized and is taking business from fellow Dr Pepper bottlers who play by the rules and sell within their defined territories," said Jim Johnston, president of beverage concentrates for DPS. "We owe it to our other bottlers to stop these unauthorized practices."
The suit seeks no financial damage, but asks that Dublin Dr. Pepper stop being sold outside of the range stipulated in its contract.
