Gov. Perry will finally announce his candidacy today.

Texas governor Rick Perry is expected to put the current GOP field on notice that he’s ready to enter the race.

Governor Perry will speak to a packed house of conservativebloggers, and any reporter able to get a last-second flight to South Carolina.

It’s his second stop of the weekend. Last night, Perry spoke to what organizers are calling one of the largest Alabama GOP events ever held, with more than 1,500 people in attendance.

He continued his message of jobs and changing the politics of Washington. He’s expected to announce that the best way to make that change is to elect him.

Perry leaves immediately after his speech in South Carolina to attend a house party with GOP leaders in New Hampshire. Then it's off to Iowa Sunday.

Perry’s small town-rancher roots along with Tea Party and Evangelical support could quickly put him at the top of list for many primary voters.
