Map: Obama Visit to Cause Road Closures, Traffic Delays

May 9, 2013

President Barack Obama's visit to the Austin area will likely cause some traffic trouble.

The President is flying in to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport around noon today. He’ll then head to Manor New Tech High School – and his caravan could cause some traffic delays along the way.

Austin Police have notified downtown businesses of street closures starting at 11 a.m. – including parts of Brazos Street, San Jacinto Boulevard., Seventh and Eighth Street. Cars won’t be allowed to park on the street from Congress to the West I-35 access road between Fifth Street and Ninth Street.

The downtown road closures are affecting bus routes. Capital Metro is detouring 14 routes that travel downtown starting around 10 a.m.
