KUTX Live at the Four Seasons Connects Fans to Some of SXSW 2016's Most Anticipated Artists

AUSTIN, Texas — Feb. 24, 2016 — KUTX 98.9 and Four Seasons Hotel Austin are partnering for the fourth consecutive year to connect music fans to some of the most anticipated artists at the 2016 SXSW Music Conference, including White Denim, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down, Sweet Spirit and Hayes Carll, as well as those poised to break out.

KUTX 98.9 will air four early morning broadcasts live from the Four Seasons ballroom from 7 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 16 through Friday, March 18, and from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 19.

The event is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is $10 per person – $5 for guests ages 12 and under – per day and includes a breakfast taco, granola bar and coffee. Proceeds benefit the Seton Shivers Cancer Center.

In the spirit of offering something to everyone, “Spare the Rock Spoil the Child,” which airs on KUTX 98.9 from 6-7 pm Sundays, will present two family friendly sets on the back lawn (weather permitting) of the Four Seasons between the main-stage acts on Wednesday, March 16.

8:30 a.m. Folk musician Red Yarn (Spare the Rock stage on the back lawn)
9 a.m. Folk and roots rock band David Wax Museum
9:30 a.m. David Wax Museum’s Suz Slezak (Spare the Rock stage on the back lawn)
10 a.m. American indie rock band Wild Belle

Thursday, March 17
7 a.m. Austin’s electronic dance music band Rattletree
8 a.m. Chicago garage rockers Twin Peaks
9 a.m. San Francisco-based alt folk rock band Thao & The Get Down Stay Down
10 a.m. Austin rock quartet White Denim

Friday, March 18
7 a.m. Austin world music ensemble Atash
8 a.m. Canadian folk singer-songwriter Basia Bulat
9 a.m. Country, bluegrass and folk singer – and Texas native – Robert Ellis, whose music infuses pop and jazz touches
10 a.m. Singer, songwriter, actor, poet and guitarist John Doe, who co-founded the L.A. punk band X

Saturday, March 19
8 a.m. “Queen of Austin Soul,” Tameca Jones, who’s expected to be the next big name to break out of Texas
9 a.m. Matthew Logan Vasquez, founder of indie rock band Delta Spirit, who has struck out on his own to get back to the “down-and-dirty style of rock and roll he loves”
10 a.m. Texas singer-songwriter Hayes Carll, playing songs from his forthcoming release “Lovers and Leavers”
11 a.m. Austin’s indie pop collective Sweet Sprit

Limited self-parking is available in the hotel garage on a first-come, first served basis at a discounted rate of $5 per car until 1 p.m.

About KUTX Live at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin
Each spring since 2012, KUTX Live at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin has allowed locals to experience some of the best music of the South by Southwest Music Festival without a wristband. This popular, family friendly event raises money for the Seton Shivers Cancer Center, which provides patient-centered care in Austin. Last year’s event raised $50,000.
