KUTX 98.9 helps listeners discover new music and experience the best of SXSW 2014

AUSTIN, Texas—March 6, 2014—KUTX 98.9, The Austin Music Experience, is music fans' go-to source for the Austin and South by Southwest Music experience during the annual conference March 11-16.

KUTX is delivering SXSW-centric content to help music fans make the most of the week and discover new artists. Special content includes exclusive news updates, artist profiles, interviews, news features, which can also be heard on sister station KUT 90.5, Austin's NPR station.

KUTX.org will be music fans' go-to source for musical discovery – from behind-the-scenes images and photo essays, to exclusive video from select SXSW venues. Follow @KUTX and #KUTXSXSW on Twitter and Instagram for the latest discoveries.

The Ones to Watch
Monday-Friday, March 3-7
KUTX's Jody Denberg is spotlighting seven up-and-coming artists scheduled to perform during SXSW. Artists include Tinariwen, Walker Lukens, Angel Olsen, The Haden Triplets, The Painted Redstarts, Emily Wolfe and Chet Faker. These two-minute profiles are online and airing four times a day on KUTX and twice a day on KUT now through Sunday.

The Austin Music Experience "The List"
Friday, March 7, noon and 11 p.m.
The Austin Chronicle's Raoul Hernandez and the Austin American Statesman's Peter Blackstock join host Jody Denberg in profiling the artists they look forward to seeing at SXSW 2014.

SXSW Song of the Day
Monday-Friday, March 10-13
KUTX's Song of the Day will showcase SXSW artists — KINS, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, Honeyblood, Ages & Ages and Cate Le Bon — exclusively throughout the week. These spotlights can be heard Monday through Thursday at 12:55 p.m., and Friday and 8:55 a.m. Each KUTX Song of the Day is available as a free download.

The Austin Music Minute
Monday-Friday, March 10-13
The Austin Music Minute, produced by Laurie Gallardo, will feature SXSW-centric shows four times a day on KUTX and twice a day on sister station KUT.

The Austin Chronicle Austin Music Awards
Wednesday, March 12
KUTX is a sponsor of the 32nd annual Austin Music Awards where the winners of the annual Austin Chronicle Music Poll will be announced, followed by a music showcase featuring The Youngbloods Choir, Church on Monday with special guest Ray Benson, Francis Preve, Lucinda Williams, the Texas Tornados and the Minor Mishap Marching Band. KUTX Live at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin
Wednesday-Saturday, March 12-15, 7-11 a.m. and 8 a.m.-noon
KUTX showcases 16 of the SXSW Music Festival’s most anticipated artists with four early-morning concerts featuring four artists playing 25-minute sets. This event is open to the public on a first-come, first served basis; no badges or wristbands are required. Admission is $10 per day, which includes a breakfast taco, granola bar and unlimited coffee. All proceeds benefit the Seton Shivers Cancer Center. Shows start at 7 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, and at 8 a.m. Saturday. Rodney Crowell, Shinyribs, Lucius, Wye Oak and Tinariwen are some of the artists scheduled to perform. KUTX and SXSJ
Wednesday-Saturday, March 12-15, noon
KUTX is partnering with Hotel San Jose for "South By San Jose," in Joe's Coffee parking lot on South Congress beginning at noon each day. Fans will enjoy performances from Lou Ann Barton, Spanish Gold, Robert Ellis, the Tontons, San Fermin, Syd Arthur and more. Many performances will air on KUTX at a later date. SXSW Public Radio Rocks Day Stage
Friday, March 14, 11 a.m.
KUTX and four of public radio's most influential music tastemakers — The Current (Twin Cities), WXPN (Philadelphia), WFUV (New York), and KXT (Dallas) — will present a special showcase and live radio broadcast and webcast from the SXSW Radio Day Stage at the Austin Convention Center. The live concert and broadcast is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature performances by Damon Albarn (11 a.m.), Lucius (noon), The Hold Steady (1 p.m.), Phantogram (2 p.m.), Jeremy Messersmith (3 p.m.) and Temples (4 p.m.).

The KUTX Sunday Mix
Sunday, March 16 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Jody Denberg welcomes Rolling Stone Senior Editor David Fricke along with musician Sean Lennon (The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger) as guest deejays.
