Austin's City Council holds a rare work session today before tomorrow's scheduled council meeting

Then try a City Council Work Session!

In what may become a regular feature of Austin city business, the City Council meets today for a pre-council meeting "work session." The sessions, which may precede every Thursday council meeting, allow members to discuss council business in a public forum.

The work sessions come after Austin Activist Brian Rodgers made a complaint to Travis County Attorney David Escamilla. That complaint prompted a county inquiry into whether council members were in violation of the Texas Open Meetings Act. It's a charge that some council members have disputed.

Council will meet today starting at 1:30 PM. If you can't be there in person, you can drop in on the fun online on Austin's Channel Six.

CORRECTION: This blog entry initially stated that an investigation by Travis County Attorney David Escamilla was prompted by reports in the The Austin Bulldog.  It has been revised.
