While his campaign's had a few stumbles, Rick Perry's fundraising ability remained strong.

Official fundraising numbers won't be out for a few days, but it looks like Rick Perry just had his 1st big win of the GOP primary season.

The Perry campaign announced this morning that it raise more than $17 million dollars in just 49 days.

That's more then the reported $10 million that reports leaked yesterday claimed he had raised. Many pundits and political watchers said raising $10 million would be a strong opening statement for question of Perry's ability to be elected.

Raising $7 million more could help firm up a campaign that's been shaky over the last three weeks. Although this money was raised before the revelations of the name of the hunting ranch the Perry family has leased over the years.

According to the campaign, donations were received from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam.  Although 49 percent of the donors were from Texas. That's a percentage he'll have to shrink some, as he tries to expand his support across the country.

The campaign says it has $15 million cash on hand. And the governor has already held a few fundraisers post filing deadline.

The 3rd quarter for fundraising ended September 30th. Perry didn't enter the race until the middle of August. That gave him only 49 of the quarter's 92 days to raise the money.
