Five obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) groups in the greater Austin-area hope to reduce costs and improve their quality of care by merging into a single network called Central Texas OB/GYN Associates or CTOA for short.
“A lot people don’t necessarily believe bigger is better, but we think in this case it is,” CTOA CEO John Moore told KUT News. “We can squeeze costs out of the system by being bigger and purchasing goods and services better that allow us to do more clinical things that provide for better care for our patients.”
Moore said doctors would also be able to share best practices as CTOA merges clinics and develops uniform processes.
The new organization will have a total of about 280 employees on the campuses of St. David’s-North Austin Medical Center, Seton Medical Center and St. David’s-Round Rock Hospital, according to a news release by CTOA.
