'Faith and Family,' 'Light the Way to Justice' Rallies at Capitol

Filipa Rodrigues for KUT News

As the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments today over same-sex marriage, here in Austin, people on both sides of the issues surrounding the cases will gather at the Capitol.

Governor Rick Perry is expected to be the featured speaker at the "Faith and Family" rally in support of so-called "traditional values."

The event, lead by a group called Texas Values, is bringing together conservatives who oppose gay marriage,  abortion and premarital sex. Lt. Governor David Dewhurst and other Republican leaders are also expected to address the group. The rally starts at noon at the South Steps of the Texas Capitol.

Then, tonight, supporters of same-sex marriage will gather for what they're calling the"Light the Way to Justice"rally, tonight at 7 on the North Steps of the Capitol. Supporters will be wearing red.
