In advance of elections, council candidates meet the public

We posted last week about the wave of city council forums popping up lately, all designed to familiarize us with council and mayoral candidates before the May 12 election. There are currently 14 candidates running for mayor and three council seats. And there are plenty of forums scheduled tin hopes that perhaps this election, more than 13% of registered voters will come out to the ballot box.

Here are three more forums coming next week:

Leadership Austin Forum

Tuesday, April 3, 8-9 a.m., Dell Hall Stage at the Long Center for the Performing Arts, 701 W. Riverside Drive

Only the mayoral candidates – Clay Dafoe, Lee Leffingwell and Brigid Shea – will be in attendance. Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir is making what’s billed as a “special presentation,” and KXAN’s Josh Hinkle serves as moderator.

Multi-Club Endorsement

Tuesday, April 3, 5:30-6:30 p.m., AFL-CIO Building, 1106 Lavaca St., #200

The multi-club meeting is comprised of the Austin Environmental Democrats, Capital Area Asian American Democrats, Capital Area Progressive Democrats, Capital City Young Democrats, Stonewall Democrats and St. Edwards Democrats.

West Austin Democrats Endorsement Meeting

Wednesday, April 4, 6:45-8:30 p.m., Howson Branch Library, 2500 Exposition Blvd.
