Cat Daddy Brings His "Cat Mojo" to Austin
Everybody who has a cat, or knows someone who has a cat, has some version of "Cats Behaving Badly." Cats who pee around the house, cats who vomit anywhere and everywhere or cats who claw and scratch their way out of our hearts and perhaps our houses.
But why do cats do that?
Some say that's just cats being cats. Jackson Galaxy doesn't believe that. Galaxy has made a career out of being a cat "whisperer" and a cat "behaviorist." He's not really sure what to call his job, but he is sure he has a special connection to cats and can help humans and cats love more and claw less.
Galaxy came to this profession in a kind of roundabout way. He was trying to make it as a musician in Boulder, Colorado and needed a day job to pay some bills and leave his nights free for music. The idea of working with animals instead of people was also kind of appealing.
After a short time at an animal shelter, Galaxy noticed cats were drawn to him. He can't really explain how, or why, only that he experienced a connection with cats he had not experienced before. Galaxy soon started helping cats with behavioral "issues" become more adoptable, or stay more settled in their adoptive homes.

Jackson Galaxy is the host of "My Cat From Hell" on Animal Planet and is the author of Cat Daddy: What the World's Most Incorrigible Cat Taught Me About Life, Love, and Coming Clean. He's speaking tonight, May 27, at 7:00 p.m. at BookPeople in Austin.
