Texas Gov. Rick Perry speaks to Michigan GOP faithful Saturday. Perry finished a distant second in what observers say was a pivotal straw poll in Florida.

The results are in from a Florida straw poll held today, and Rick Perry wasn't the winner.

Former pizza executive and conservative talk show host Herman Cain picked up 37 percent of the support among 2,600-plus votes cast. Perry, who was campaigning in Michigan today, got 15 percent; former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney garnered 14 percent.

Perry had challenged Romney for not actively taking part in the Presidency Five straw poll. The Texas governor spoke at a breakfast in Orlando before heading to Mackinac Island, Michigan.
