Bill Gates to Speak at UT Computer Science Building Opening

Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects

Tickets for Microsoft founder Bill Gates' talk at UT are now available online at eventbrite, but for UT computer science students only.

On March 6, Bill Gates will be speaking at UT-Austin to help break in the brand new, $140 million Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex and Dell Computer Science Hall.  The talk is part of the event ">goto_GDC", which is the grand opening event of the new building.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex and Dell Computer Science Hall, or the GDC, houses the entire computer science department under one roof — a first for UT. The building received approximately $40 million in donations from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.

The GDC is the latest new building on UT's campus. Earlier this spring, UT opened its new College of Liberal Arts building. Last fall, UT opened the Belo Center for New Media.

The tickets for Gates' talk are available for UT computer science students only, and registering for a ticket does not guarantee a student a spot. Computer science students who cannot get tickets or students of other majors will be able to watch live-stream of the talk on other places on campus.
