An AT&T outage affecting Austin and surrounding areas was caused by a fiber optic line cut, officials say.
Update 1:30 p.m. Austin-Travis County EMS sent out a final situation alert tweet stating that most if not all service has been reinstated.

Update 1:20 p.m. Bastrop County Emergency Services says via Twitter that service has been restored and that some customers may need to restart their phones.
We are have information that AT&T service has been restored. Some phone subscribers have needed to reboot their phones to restore service.

Update 1 p.m. Some customers are reporting in the comments on downdetector.com that their service is back up, though the outage continues to affect many in the area.
Austin-Travis County Emergency Services said via Twitter that 911 services are still operational, but they're encouraging people to use a land line to phone 911 if needed.

Customers in Austin and other Central Texas areas were unable to make calls Sunday morning, and officials say that the outage was likely due to a line cut.
The Major AT&T cellular outage is due to a fiber optic line cut. We will share an estimated repair time as soon as it is available.

It appears that the outage affects only AT&T customers trying to text or make calls on the network.
