APD Investigates Report of Gunmen at North Austin Movie Theater

Update: Austin Police say a SWAT situation at the Tinseltown Theater has ended. No suspects were located.

Police are allowing employees of surrounding businesses to return to work.

Original Story (7:08 a.m.): Austin Police are asking people to avoid the Tinseltown Theater in far *North Austin. They’re investigating a report of two armed people in the theater.

Police say they got a call around 3:45 Monday morning from the theaters' cleaning crew. The three staff members say they saw two people dressed in all black enter the theater carrying long items – possibly weapons.

Police say the staffers were able to leave the building safely but officers have not yet entered the theater to see if anyone else is inside.

The theater is off of Northbound I-35 around Wells Branch Parkway. Police haven’t blocked any roadways there but expect traffic may be slow because of onlookers.

*This post has been updated to change the location from Pflugerville to North Austin. Though computer mapping software and the Cinemark website puts the theater in Pflugerville, a City of Pflugerville spokesperson says it is actually outside the Pflugerville City Limits.
