EPA Hints at Approval of TCEQ Air Plan

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has signaled it will likely approve changes to the state’s clean air plan.

A revised plan from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality establishes site-wide emission caps with specific monitoring at units for existing major sources of air pollution. The EPA said the proposal gives the industry more flexibility in day-to-day operations.

The agency will seek public comment on the approval for 30 days before it makes a final decision. You can read more over at StateImpact Texas.

LCRA to Give Away Life Jackets on Lake Travis

The LCRA "Nobody’s Waterproof" team will give away life jackets Saturday as a water safety reminder.

The 200 life jackets the team plans to give away represent the average number of people who drown in Texas between the Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays.

The team will have a booth in Bob Wentz Park and a boat on Lake Travis with the free life jackets and water safety tips.

The life jackets are U.S. Coast Guard approved and are available in children's and adult sizes.

New Disc Golf Course Opens this Weekend

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the opening of a new disc golf course at the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Park Saturday.

The opening will feature disc golf demonstrations, lessons and information and an opening ceremony with live music and food vendors.

The department developed the course as a replacement for the Pease Park disc golf course that closed in 2010 for Shoal Creek water quality improvements.
