Education Committee Reviews Disciplinary Programs
Lawmakers will look at both Disciplinary Alternative in Education Programs (DAEP) and Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Programs (JJAEP) and review how effective these programs are at reducing problems with students.
Currently, K-12 students can be removed from their regular classes and placed in DAEPs. Students who are expelled from those programs or who are juvenile offenders, however, are put into JJAEPs.
The House committee will talk about how to fund these programs and how to use technology to educate students with disciplinary problems.
Austin Toros Win Title
The Austin Toros routed the Los Angeles D-Fenders this weekend to become the NBA Development League champions. The Toros won two of the three-game series – capping off the final game with a 122 to 110 victory.
Guard Justin Dentmon led the Toros with 30 points for the night, helping the D-League team maintain their lead throughout the night.
The rally is free and so is parking. The event starts at 7 p.m.
In the Development League, the Toros are the farm team for the San Antonio Spurs.
