Officials Urging People to Conserve Energy
Austin Energy and the the state's grid operator ERCOT are asking people to conserve energy over the next few days, especially during peak demand hours, because of the cold weather. Peak demand hours are from 6-9 a.m. and 4-8 p.m.
They want to reduce the risk of another electricity emergency or the need for more rotating power outages. People should turn off non-essential lights and appliances, and avoid running washers and dryers.
Wintry weather in north Texas means some flights between Dallas and Austin are canceled today. You can check your flight status here.
